Designing durable medical devices is challenging due to the rise of superbug threats causing more stringent disinfecting protocols throughout medical facilities. This session uncovers how to make devices stronger and disinfectant-ready – getting closer to our goal of zero failures. Hear design tips on cleanability and serviceability from a biomedical/clinical engineer from a top 5 hospital, and hear manufacturability design tips from an expert in part and tool design. The presentation will conclude with a Q&A panel of experts including the speakers plus an expert on disinfectants from Clorox and an expert on chemical resistance of polymers from Eastman.
